Ahh yes, fashion. Some of us are good at it, some of us are just dressed for disaster. If there is one thing we men pride ourselves in, it is that we are simple creatures and we don’t really mind what we are wearing as long as it covers the essentials. While it is a convenient mindset to have, it is also part of our downfall as well. We tend to get too “laid back” and in turn, turn out underdressed to certain occasions that require us to be at our presentable best. These are the five things men should avoid while choosing casual wear.
Velcro Shoes
Seriously, bro, stop it, it ain’t funny anymore. Velcro shoes? Sure, if you are a 7 years old kid starting out in primary school. These shoes do not only make you look immature, it would also ruin whatever fashion display you decided to strut out with. Furthermore, wearing Velcro shoes might give people the idea that you do not know how to tie your own shoes. So ditch those Velcros and start wearing something your age!
Skinny Jeans
Try to refrain from wearing skinny jeans. If you are tall and skinny, those jeans would only emphasise your leg features. For a fix, a pair of shorts or sweatpants would do a better job at it as it will prevent you from looking “unbalanced”. However, if your heart (and mind) is still set on skinny jeans, we recommend darker colours as they are easier to be styled and paired with any outfits, and still present an air of casual and class around you.
Bling Jeans
Well, you would get the attention, but at what cost? Instead of wooing girls over, you might just be attracting kids over to you since they like shiny things. Also, bling jeans are sooooo 90’s, while it is a good look for nostalgia, and certainly is suitable 90’s themed event, they are certainly well outdated now. Plus, you might look way older than what you intended. It has been 30 years bro, move on!
Baggy Clothing
Baggy clothes or clothes that are too loose is not a good look on men. We have been on both sides of the spectrum, as the person who wears and the bystanders. Wearing oversized clothes may look good and cute on women but certainly not us. Why if you might ask? Try to tuck in your formal wear or your T-shirt, those excess around your waists makes you look untidy and messy and it also gives people the general impression that you don’t really care about being presentable. Try a customise tshirt that suits your size. Plus, we are naturally blessed with wide shoulders compared to women, flaunt them!
Sandals with Socks
Sandals are made for better air ventilation and for casual wear. Socks are made to cover your feet. Why contradict yourself by wearing both? And we have the gall to call women complicated? Who in their right mind started this monstrosity? Nope, nope, nope, just nope. It doesn’t look right, it doesn’t feel right. Imagine going to the beach wearing both sandals with socks, that would make laundry a hassle since you need to clean them separately, yikes!
