Shower and bath are our daily’s little treats. We tend to enjoy the moment and have a “me” time during bath time. We tend to expect a soft and fluffy towel to wipe off the water from our body. However, we often underappreciated towels. Here are some tips for you to find the best towels.
Tip #1 – Determine the Size
First, we must determine the purpose of the towels. Towels come in a variety of sizes for different use such as gym towel, bath towel, hand towel and face towel. A standard measurement of a bath towel is 30” x 60”. It allows you to fully wrap yourself. If you are taller or bigger body size, you will need to consider a larger measurement of towels which is cozier but of course more expensive.
Tip #2 – Choose Your Fabric
Everyday towels are often made of standard cotton. However, there are different fabrics used for different purposes.
Polyester is not soft and plushy but it dries fast. This fabric is suitable for kitchens or gyms. Polyester can fold until very small and compact which is suitable to bring to the gym or travel.
Turkish cotton has long fiber that gives softer feels. It gets fluffier, softer and more absorbent with every wash. Choose Turkish cotton if you prefer a thick and luxurious feel. However, Turkish cotton is more expensive.
Bamboo fiber is an eco-friendlier fabric. Bamboo towels minimize the risk of skin allergies as they use natural sources of fiber. It is highly absorbent and dries quickly. Bamboo is resistant to mold and germs which is highly recommended for sensitive skin. But if you crave plush, you will be disappointed.
Tip #3 – Decide on Weight
Bath towel density is measured in grams per square meter (GSM). The heavier, thicker towels tend to be softer and more absorbent. That means towels with higher GSM will have better performance. A 300-400GSM towel is thinner and lighter which is ideal for gym. For 400-600 GSM towels, it’s a medium weight towel. It can be used as everyday bath towels. A 600-900 GSM towel is dense and absorbent. It gives you the feel of luxury but it will take longer to dry.
Tip #4 – Pick The Color and Style
Towels can be the end touching of your bathroom. White is the most classic choice which works with any style or setting. You can also arrange your towels in cabinets based on color scheme. Customised towels can bring out your personality and give your bathroom a touch.
Tip #5 – Notes on Care
To make your towels last longer, follow the instructions on the label and take proper care of them. Before using your towels, wash them once to set the color. It helps to improve the absorbency at the same time. Avoid using softener as continuing using softener will reduce the absorbency of your towels. By putting a little effort on the choosing process of towels, you can add style and comfort to your bathroom.
